In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman?

Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, makes an attempt to take the reins of Gotham’s criminal world. Aside from the Bat-signal in the closing scene of the season finale, we never got our Robert Pattinson cameo in The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to have his version of the Penguin smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022), but was unsuccessful. For his own series, however, the character is portrayed as a casual tobacco user with a penchant for cigars.

So, the first episode is done and it was excellent

The DC Studios logo is seen in a rainy Gotham alley. An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. Featured in Graham Norton I Liked: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024).

I’ve never seen Farell so invested in a character

I mean, yes, he wears a fat suit, but you’d never know it. His posture, body language, voice, everything makes you immerse yourself in the character and see only the Penguin. Nothing like the other live TV Penguins, Burgess Meredith or Robin Lord Taylor. This is a New York gangster, a smart guy.

He’s a Scorsese gangster, but without the flowery language

The plot is simple, similar to Lord Taylor’s Penguin in the CW series Gotham. The Penguin is a middleman in a mafia organization. Up until now, he’s served his time, slowly rising in the mafia, and then, when the Riddler blows up the city’s dam, and the death of his boss in this film, sees a chance to move up in the world. Now begins the game of betrayal, double betrayal and, I suspect, triple betrayal.

Very entertaining and highly recommended
